Like many technologies, 3D printing trends for 2026 are rapidly innovating. Innovations include new printing materials, methods and larger printers.
Printing with Multiple Materials
Multiplexed nozzles have been developed that allow printing with multiple materials at the same time. This innovation will allow for larger and more complex parts to be printed. Aerospace and marine industries stand to benefit.
Swarm Printing
Multiple printing heads printing multiples of the same part has been around for sometime. In swarm printing, large parts are broken down into smaller pieces. Each piece is then printed simultaneously by different printing heads. Assembly systems with special bonding materials put the pieces together.
Large Part Printing with a Single Printer
Larger printers are being made. As an example, homes are being 3D printed. These printers typically use a cement-based mixture. Polymers, resins and wood composites may also be used. As one might expect, the printers are large gantry type.
