The demand for copper is projected to increase due to the transition to “green” technologies like wind turbines and electric vehicles.
The main industries that use copper are building construction, infrastructure, general manufacturing, energy, and automotive.
According to a report by Mining.com, demand for renewable energy and autos will rise to nearly 16% of all copper demand by 2030. Currently, these sectors represent about 6% of total copper demand. Total copper demand is expected to increase by about 12% by 2030.
