We recently ran an order for custom 3D-printed cable-holding tools. It was a small order of 6. For us, small orders are typical for 3D-printed components.
PLA Printing Material
The printing material was PLA (Polylactic Acid). PLA is an excellent general 3D printing material. It is easy to print and creates components for a wide variety of applications. PLA has good strength and good dimensional accuracy.
However, it does not perform well for outdoor applications, due to sunlight exposure, or high-temperature environments. It is derived from sugarcane
and corn, so it is an environmentally friendly material.
Printing Orientation
The cable-holding tools were printed with a vertical orientation as shown in the image. We used a small desktop printer and printed them two at a time.
