The use of 3D printing or Additive Manufacturing (AM) is growing in the manufacturing industry. Over the past few years, we have seen our customers transition to using our 3D printing services for production components. 3D printing is no longer just for prototyping.
We are a small precision machine shop with 3D printing capabilities. Although small, we still like to keep up with trends in our industry.
We recently read an article from 3D Printing Industry. Here are some main trends in 3D printing for 2022:
Trends in 3D Printing
3D printing is being adopted more for rocketry, automobiles, semiconductor equipment, and healthcare for patient-specific medical devices.
With advances in materials, 3D printing is moving from just a prototyping technology to production technology.
For some spare parts, there will be less warehousing and more on-demand additive or 3D printing production.
3D printing can be a solution to the supply chain issues that we have faced in the past couple of years due to the pandemic.
Hybrid manufacturing, where one machine will do both additive and subtractive manufacturing will continue to be developed. These machines will be a combination of a 3D printer and a milling machine.
