3D Printing’s Effect on the US Trade Balance

Some are predicting major effects on the US trade balance from 3D printing technology. In this article form Machine Design, several factors are discussed. 3D printing is not having a huge effect now, but once 3D printing is capable of mass production, that could change. The article suggest that 3D printing could amount to an astounding 50% share of manufacturing over the next twenty years. I suppose that once designs are complete, the components could be printed anywhere.

At C&C Machine, we utilize 3D printing for prototyping and short-run production components.
